OUR SERVICES

DGT Costs Lawyers aims to be Australia’s premier firm specialising exclusively in the complex area of legal costs law and practice

Our reputation is built on having the capability, expertise, experience and resources to deliver high quality legal costing solutions to our clients.

Our team, nationally, consists of 7 in-house specialist costs solicitors and more than 12 legally qualified costs consultants. The team is supported by an advanced legal costing case management system and technology as well as dedicated client services and research personnel.

As an Incorporated Legal Practice in New South Wales with offices in Queensland and the ACT we are able to provide legal advice on all aspects of legal costing law and practice.

We offer standard and VIP services for the preparation of a Bill of Costs or Costs Statement.

For New South Wales and federal jurisdictions, our fees are generally charged at a fixed percentage of the profit costs as drawn in a Bill plus GST. The preparation of a standard Bill is usually charged at 10% plus GST. However for larger litigious matters or non-urgent matters we are happy to discuss alternative fee arrangements.

The usual delivery date is between 10 and 20 working days depending on the size of your matter, urgency and costs involved.

At DGT we pride ourselves on our dedication to meet your specific requirements. Our fee for preparation of a Notice of Objection or Responses will depend on what you require and how quickly you need it. Contact one of our costs lawyers today to discuss your matter and individual needs and we can provide you with an estimate of our fees and turnaround time, tailored to suit you.

We can provide legal advice on all aspects of legal costing law and practice.

We prepare both party/party Costs Statements and solicitor/client Bills of Costs in all Queensland jurisdictions on the one fee basis being at the current Queensland Supreme Court drawing and producing rate plus 25%.

These rates are increased from time to time and the size of the Costs Statement or Bill of Costs therefore determines our fee.

Our fee for preparation of a Notice of Objection will depend on what you require and how quickly you need it.Under the UCPR, objections to a Costs Statement must be provided within 21 days of service of the Costs Statement upon your client.

Although formal Responses to a Notice of Objection are not specifically contemplated in the UCPR, it may be necessary to make further submissions in response to the objections in some matters.

Again our fee for preparation of Responses and Submissions will depend on what you require and the urgency.

We prepare both party/party and solicitor/client short-form assessments and charge our fee as a fixed percentage of profit costs for all matters. Where we are requested to conduct dual party/party and solicitor/client assessments, we may reduce our fee for the solicitor/client component.

Our standard fee for preparation of a short form assessment is 6% plus GST of the profit costs as drawn (exclusive of GST).

Kerrie Rosati and Leanne Francis are our Court Appointed Costs Assessors in Queensland and are available to assess costs in all types of disputes. Kerrie and Leanne's current rates are as published on the Queensland Court website in the Register of Approved Costs Assessors.

We can provide legal advice on all aspects of legal costing law and practice.

We prepare party/party Bills of Costs at the current Australian Capital Territory Supreme Court rates allowed for drawing and typing plus 25% plus GST. These rates are increased from time to time and the size of the Bill of Costs therefore determines our fee.

Our fee for preparation of a Notice of Objection or Responses and Submissions will depend on what you require and how quickly you need it.

Our fee for preparation of submissions and attendances at a taxation or assessment hearing will also depend on what you require and the urgency.

Expert Evidence on Costs

The use of legal costing experts in modern litigation has increased and it is now commonplace for parties to engage experts in applications for security for costs and applications for gross sum costs. Our in house specialist costs lawyers all provide this evidence and are able to assist you with evidence in all jurisdictions including the Federal Court lump sum application regime.

In-House Legal Research

Our size allows us to have better levels of resources than our competitors. We maintain a database and analysis of Certificates of Determinations and relevant case law. With a plethora of case law and legislation relevant to costs, this adds significantly to our ability to deliver expert and quality solutions.

Provision of CLE/CPD

We present CPD/CLE seminars specifically relevant to legal costing which can count towards your yearly CPD/CLE points.

The pace of legislative change and impact of newly implemented legislation means that lawyers must continually keep themselves up to date with the relevant law.

Our focus is always on the practical application of legal costs law in your practice and we work with you to determine the needs of your firm to ensure that the presentation is relevant.

We are able to cover all of the mandatory topics:
